Thank you Laurie!

Sharon and Laurie Paterson when they were thanked as Laurie was farewelled from the chair and board of Hereford Prime recently. Laurie has been instrumental in development of quality grass-fed beef in the domestic market for nearly three decades.

There's been a changing of the guard at Hereford Prime recently as the board farewelled our chairman of nearly 30 years Laurie Paterson, ONZM.

The board and NZ Hereford Members owe a massive debt of thanks to Laurie for his unwavering loyalty, tenacity, leadership and determination to bring Kiwis better quality beef.

When Laurie and his late friend Don Goodall set up Hereford Prime in the very early 1990s they were pioneers in quality beef - so much so that the quality parameters used by Hereford Prime set the benchmark for today's Quality Mark.

Not only do we say thanks to Laurie for all he's done and achieved over many many decades (primarily on a voluntary basis), we also acknowledge his wife Sharon and his family - who have shared him with the breed and brand and run their Southland farm while he's been away on brand business.

Thank you Sharon and the wider Paterson family of Waikaka Genetics, for without you supporting Laurie, HP wouldn't be where it is today. We appreciate your significant contribution as well.

We salute and thank you Laurie for everything you've done for the brand and Hereford breed throughout the decades. It's been a privilege to work with you and the board and team all thank you sincerely.

The board also said thanks and farewell to director Colin Corney of Colraine Herefords has who stepped down from the board. Colin has spent more than a decade on the board sharing his expertise. Your contribution has been appreciated by all Colin, thank you.

While Laurie has stepped away, we welcomed new chairman Chris Douglas from Monymusk - Polled Herefords in Te Anau. The brand will be in great hands with Chris at the helm. We have also welcomed new Hereford Prime director Paul Scott from Matatoki Herefords near Timaru to the board.
