Beef Hamper Winner Revealed

The Jenkins partnership who farm near Rangiwahia in northern Manawatu have been drawn as the lucky winners of the Hereford Prime beef hamper valued at $150.

Hereford Prime in conjunction with PGG Wrightson ran a promotion during the weaner fairs in the lower North Island with farmers who purchased cattle eligible for the Hereford Prime quality beef programme asked to complete an entry form to go into the draw to win the beef pack.

The Jenkins, pictured, from left are Bill, Diane and Wayne who farm 284ha of hill country in conjunction with 30ha on the plains at Kiwitea.

They finish about 60 head annually of mainly Hereford Angus cross cattle.

Hereford Prime brand manager Natalie Campbell said she was delighted to present the beef hamper to the Jenkins who have been farming in their area for many generations. The Jenkins were presented with a whole ribeye, whole sirloin and red wine – among other items.

She also said the team of PGG Wrightson agents did a great job alerting potential buyers to the eligible lines of weaners at the sales which were also identified with the Hereford Prime brand on their pen cards.

“We really appreciate their support of our programme and look forward to continuing to work with them as Hereford Prime grows.”

Hereford Prime accepts pure bred Hereford or Hereford first cross British breed animals for processing. Cattle must be steers or heifers and sit within the carcase weight of 240-300kgCW. All carcases are individually measured for quality control with suppliers provided with a comprehensive feedback sheet containing details of the quality measurements recorded for each carcase, including pH, fat colour, meat colour, marbling and ribeye size and carcase grade.
